SWISS GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE

Description
A green bean casserole that doesn't use mushroom soup or fried onions! It's a rich and tasty dish we always serve on the holidays.

Ingredients
4 cans french cut green beans
1 onion diced
1/4 cup flour
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1/4 cup sugar
1 16 oz container french onion dip
2 cups crushed cornflakes
1 stick butter plus 2 tbsp
8 oz swiss cheese

Directions
Melt butter in skillet, saute onion in the butter, then add flour to the butter mixture to make a rue. Add sugar, salt and pepper to the rue. When the rue is thickened add the french onion dip and mix throughly. Continue to cook until it is bubbly. Open and drain green beans and then add them to the rue mixture. Put the rue mixture in a casserole dish top with swiss cheese. Crush the cornflakes and then mix with 2 tbsp melted butter. Place the cornflake mixture over the swiss cheese. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes (until corn flakes are toasted, and cheese is bubbly).
