Based on the best-selling novel, “Because of Winn-Dixie”, comes a tale about girl (Anna Sophia Robb) who moves to a new town with her preacher father (Jeff Daniels) and meets a scruffy fun-loving pooch named Winn-Dixie. The two form a special bond that seems to work its magic on the rest of the town as well.
Anna Sophia Robb is spell-binding as Opal, the girl who befriends Winn-Dixie. According to director, Wayne Wang, she showed the most spirit that they wanted to capture from the book and still keep the sentiment of the book alive. The dog who portrayed Winn-Dixie, was the lovable pooch a person would love to take home with them; a playful pooch who will “lick your face off.” Jeff Daniels played Robb’s preacher father trying to adjust to life in a new town after his wife leaves him. Cicely Tyson and Eva Marie Saint also co-star as townsfolk in the town of Naomi where Opal and her father move to.
The dog in Winn-Dixie seems to have a special bond that magically transforms with everyone in the town. Even the gruff landlord takes a liking to Winn-Dixie. This is one movie that is perfect to watch with the entire family and suitable for all ages. Everyone of all ages will fall in love with Winn-Dixie.
