The Painted House

Base on John Grisham’s 12th novel, “The Painted House” is a based on Grisham’s life-affirming story of childhood memories and “local lore” from his Arkansas roots.

Until September 1952, Luke Chandler had never kept a secret or told a single lie.  But during that long, hot summer, 10-year-old Luke comes of age when two migrant workers—also two dangerous men—come through the Arkansas delta to work on the Chandler Cotton farm.  That’s when mysteries flood Luke’s world.  A murder leaves the town seething in gossip and suspicion.  Even a beautiful young woman manages to catch Luke’s eye.  A fatherless baby is born, and someone begins painting  the Chandler home, slowly and painstakingly bathing the run-down structure in white.   As the world around Luke changes before him, the secrets that he keeps could shatter lives and change his family and the town forever.
