Brad Pitt picks up a sword and brings a muscular, brooding presence to the role of the famous Greek warrior, Achilles, in this excellent retelling of Homer’s “The Iliad.” Orlando Bloom (Paris) and Diane Kruger (Helen of Troy) play the legendary lovers who plunges the world into war. Eric Bana plays the prince who dares to confront Achilles, and Peter O’Toole is ruler of Troy as King Priam. Director Wolfgang Petersen is a master as he recreates a long-ago world of mighty warships, clashing armies, a massive fortress city, and a towering Trojan Horse. This is an epic movie at its best and those who love Greek mythology will love this movie.
