The Perrine Bridge as you see it today originally opened to traffic on July 31, 1976. However, its history goes way further back than that. The original bridge was called the Twin Falls-Jerome Intercounty Bridge and it was constructed in 1927. It was considered the highest bridge in the world at the time and served as a precursor to the beautiful state-of-the-art bridge you see today.

 After years of the bridge falling into disrepair, construction on the fancy new Perrine Bridge began in 1973. Towering 486-feet above the Snake River and stretching 1,500-feet-long, the bridge is much more than a means of getting from Point A to Point B. It's a Twin Falls icon.

 First of all, this bridge is an incredible beauty. Acting as the key entry point into town, you couldn't ask for a better place to make an entrance. The bridge perfectly blends into the natural beauty of the canyon and makes this epic landscape even MORE stunning.

 

In fact, locals love the bridge so much that they've adopted it as a sort of mascot for the town. You'll see it on everything from billboards to business cards. The bridge itself was even named after I.B. Perrine who was considered the founder and father of the Twin Falls area.

 Driving over the canyon isn't the only thing that this bridge is good for. It's also considered a world-class BASE jumping destination. Seeing a daredevil jump off the bridge is a pretty common occurrence around here. Heck, even Evel Knievel made the bridge a destination for one of his crazy, albeit failed, stunts.
