The story of the original Modern Hotel can be traced back to the height of the Great Depression in Nampa, Idaho. It was originally founded by two sheepherders, Regina Echevarria and her husband. They opened it as a boarding house that catered to Basque immigrants, sheepherders, and travelers.

The spirit of the original Modern Hotel lives on in the gorgeous boutique hotel you see today. Opened 60 years later by Regina's granddaughter, Elizabeth Tullis, the hotel took over a rundown guest lodge. After a complete renovation and the addition of modern amenities, the Modern Hotel & Bar came to life!
