15 Haunted Places in Idaho

Kit Kat Klub - Meridian

If the Kit Kat Klub was still operating, it would be much higher on this list, but the building was demolished in 2016. We don't know if the ghosts that haunted the former gentlemen's club still hang out in this location. Former guests and employees used to hear lockers' pounding backstage when no one was there. Perhaps, the ghost of an angry dancer that continued to have a bad night repeatedly for years.

Gott's Point - Nampa

This beautiful point between Nampa and Caldwell is home to nesting birds, a wildlife preserve, and, according to many, a ghost. Listed by OnlyInYourState.com as one of the best 8 places to see a ghost in Idaho, Gott's Point on Lake Lowell is said to be haunted by the spirit of a drowning victim. The young girl was water skiing sometime in the 70's when the accident occurred. Some say that you can see her gasping for her last breath late at night along the shore.

Satin Dolls - Boise

Once known as Night Moves, Satin Dolls is the gentlemen's club on State Street reported to be haunted. When guests and employees have taken pictures here, things had appeared that weren't there when the photo was taken. Cold spots throughout the building have been reported, and a ghostly little girl is frequently seen here.

Belmont Barbershop - Boise

Idaho's most notorious murder was that of Cora Dean, a woman who would frequent a bar in Garden City. One night she met a man named Raymond Snowden, who brutally murdered her that same night. Afterward, he dropped his knife in the gutter, he walked directly into the bathroom of Hannifin's Cigar Shop, now operating as Belmont Barbershop. Some believe that, along with the Old Idaho Penitentiary, he still haunts this location. People have said that they can still hear footsteps walking towards the bathroom, even when no one else is around.

Pete's Tavern - Nampa

The building that houses Pete's Tavern in Nampa has been around for over a century. Customers and employees alike have witnessed ghostly apparitions and creepy happenings inside. According to a report from KTVB, paranormal investigators have found four ghosts that call Pete's Tavern home. The bar is especially haunted in the back area that looks like a cave called "The Club."

Strangelove - Boise

Originally built to be an athletic club, the building has had many purposes since its completion in 1906. It's been a church, a strip club, a restaurant, and more. Over the past nearly twenty years, it's been home to various nightclubs. A murder was committed here in 2017, but the ghost that haunts the building is a woman who died in the in the 1920s. No one knows much about her, but she appears in pictures to this day.

Dry Creek Cemetery - Boise

Dry Creek Cemetery is a large burial ground in Boise. It dates back more than 100 years. Local legend says that you can hear a ghostly horse galloping by each night at 2:15am if you are outside this gate near the canal.

Idanha Hotel - Boise

The Idanha Hotel was the hot spot in Boise when it opened in 1901. Some say it's still a hot spot for paranormal activity. The building is currently home to Guru Donuts and apartments. Yet, when it was a hotel, it's guests included Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. Current residents have gotten to know some "ghostly guests." The murdered former bellman occasionally moves the elevator up and down at his leisure. A woman who was reportedly murdered in the basement of the hotel still lingers on the bottom floors.

Canyon Hill Cemetery - Caldwell

The main office of Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. The old, creepy building watches over the grounds which are said to be haunted by a "midnight jogger."

Owyhee Plaza - Boise

For many years, the Owyhee building in Downtown Boise was a hotel and, for many years, known as one of the most haunted locations in the Treasure Valley. Guests of the hotel would often report ghost sightings in their rooms, meeting spaces, or even the restaurant, which is still in use. The most frequent reports came from Room 136.

River Road Bridge - Caldwell

In Caldwell, the River Road Bridge is on the site where pioneers on the Oregon Trail crossed the Boise River. Having played the game growing up, you might think that the ghost stories would be generated by those pioneers. This haunting happened much later than that. The legend says that a woman hung herself off this bridge sometime after it was completed in 1922. Now, late at night, according to urban legend, if you park your car on this bridge and turn off your lights, you will see her shadow.

The Egyptian - Boise

A projectionist from the early days of the Egyptian Theater in the '20s is the man who haunts this venue. He had a heart attack and died while he was on the job. Now, he turns lights on and off and creates strange odors wherever he goes. The Egyptian was featured in Ghost Stories on the Travel Channel.

The Boise Murder House - Boise

The Boise Murder House is home to a bloody and disturbing tale. On June 30, 1987, three men had an argument in the basement of this home. A shot rang out that hit one of the men in the shoulder. There was a lot of blood, and he ran to a neighbors house for help. No one would answer the door. That's when the other two men drug him back into the house to finish the job. He was dismembered, and his chopped up body was put into the Brownlee Reservoir. The next day, police followed the trail of his blood back to the "Murder House." The man responsible was sentenced to life in prison, while the victim is said to still be in the house, haunting the basement.

Fort Boise Cemetery - Boise

On the surface, Fort Boise Cemetery looks like a peaceful place, but according to some, it's anything but. This inactive military cemetery is home to 274 military members and their families. Ghostly visitors here are said to include a woman and several children. A more recent paranormal investigation has revealed a former soldier named Jerry.

Old Idaho Penitentiary

Old Idaho Penitentiary is home to several hauntings. In these cells, many many men served times for doing the unthinkable. Some may still be serving time here, more than one hundred years later.

Old Idaho Penitentiary's Siberia

The Old Idaho Penitentiary's solitary confinement section is where the worst were sent when they couldn't be controlled. They spent their time in a cell smaller than a twin bed. Some of the worst times imprisoned were spent in these cells. Prisoners called it "Siberia," and some may have never left.

Old Idaho Penitentiary - The Gallows

The most infamous of all of the Old Idaho Penitentiary's inmates was Raymond Snowden. Snowden was convicted of murdering a woman in Garden City. He was known as "Idaho's Jack The Ripper" because of the gruesome way he killed his victim. Convicted for killing one, he bragged about killing others. It was in the newly constructed gallows in building #5 that he was put to death. He was the last person killed by hanging in Idaho, and the only one who's sentence was carried out in this building. Some say that they can still hear him gasping for air in this room, which is the most haunted in the entire prison.
