Take A Strenuous Path To An Idaho Overlook That Lets You See For Miles

Sometimes the best views are the hardest to reach. Cervidae Peak near Boise, Idaho, is proof. This is one grueling trail where the reward at the end is worth the effort. Once you reach the peak, you will be at an Idaho overlook that lets you see for miles. Whether you are an experienced hiker or you are working to become one, this trail in Idaho must be on your bucket list.

Cervidae Peak is in the Boise Mountains, north of Lucky Peak State Park. This peak is unique because it is one of the four that make up the Grand Slam.

To reach this mountain peak, it’s not an easy climb. In fact, the Cervidae Peak Trail is considered quite hard and challenging. You will climb nearly 2,000 feet in elevation in approximately two miles.

This trail is just over two miles, one-way. However, despite the short distance, you’ll still want to give yourself plenty of time to climb it.

Cervidae Peak Trail is open year-round. However, if hiking in the summer months, make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat as there is little shade. In the winter, you may want spikes and traction devices due to snow and icy areas along your way.

Fortunately, your path is typically quite easy to follow. This is a fairly busy trail, so pay attention to other hikers as you climb.

Once you reach Cervidae Peak, celebrate, and then look all around you. The views are one of a kind and mesmerizing.

On clear days, you can see for miles. Look around as you'll spot unique features such as Thorn Creek Butte, Mount Heinan, Sunset Peak, Pilot Peak, and Shafer Butte.

Even in the winter, you’ll be in awe of the views at the peak and along the trail. The wintery landscape will make you fall in love with Idaho all over again.

Once you’ve recovered, head back down the trail. Just make sure you don’t leave without capturing this remarkable view on your camera.

Dig Into Idaho’s History With A Look At These 9 Mining Photos From The Early 1900s

While Idaho is home to a variety of minerals, it was gold that brought many of the first settlers into the state. In fact, gold was one of the reasons behind the creation of the Idaho territory in the 1860s. Eventually, over the years, more minerals were discovered including silver, zinc, and lead. We are fascinated by Idaho’s rich mining history and so we got right to work, gathering photos from the early 1900s that give us just a glimpse into this important part of Idaho’s history. The Emmett Cherry Festival In Idaho Is Back For Its 88th Year Of Fun & Festivities

One of the most iconic events in the state is the Emmett Cherry Festival which takes place every June. A beloved tradition that will be held for the 88th time this year, experiencing this community event is a must for every Idahoan. The festival is a celebration of the region’s abundance of cherries, but it’s also so much more than that. It’s a chance for the community to come together and have some unforgettable fun. Now in its 86th year, the long-standing Emmett Cherry Festival will be held this year June 15-18, 2022. There's a reason this festival has stuck around for so long, and you just have to experience it for yourself to know why!

Since the 1930s, the quaint community of Emmett has gathered every year to celebrate the abundance of delicious cherries in the Gem County valley. It's always held during the second full week of June, and it promises to be a weekend filled with fun and entertainment.

The festival takes place at Emmett City Park and everybody is welcome to come and enjoy the fun. On top of endless cherries, the event offers a parade and children's parade, daily entertainment, and nightly concerts.

Boasting a population of just 5,490 residents, Emmett is usually a quiet little town. However, that all changes during the festival! More than 50,000 people attend this small town celebration every year. After all, it's chock full of family-friendly activities and it's completely free to attend.

While attending this awesome event, families can enjoy carnival rides, an endless array of vendors, arts and crafts, contests, and so much more. It's the perfect way to kick off the summer season with family and friends.

Of course, there will be plenty of fresh cherries that are ready to be consumed in copious amounts. Fresh-picked Idaho cherries are just divine—once you start eating them, you just can't stop. If you're up for a challenge, you can consider taking part in the festival's popular cherry pie eating contest!

Few People Know This Charming Small Town In Idaho Is The Center Of The Universe

Splatter Lab is located in Rexburg and first opened its doors in 2020. It has become a popular place in this small Idaho town to unleash creativity and get a little messy.

This unique art studio is designed to help you make art that you are proud of — even if you aren’t a professional artist. When you walk into the lab, you will be given ponchos, all necessary painting supplies, and even a speaker to help you splatter with the perfect soundtrack.

It’s then time to get to work! Cover your paintbrush with paint colors of your choice and splatter it all over your canvas. You can splatter the paint from far away or up close ... it really doesn't matter.

In the lab, you don’t have to worry about cleaning up your mess, spilling paint, or ruining your clothing. This is a great way to relieve some stress and just do something different.

Each experience comes with an 11 x 14 canvas. However, you can always upgrade your canvas to create a larger work of art or even choose glow-in-the-dark paint if you want something a little unique.

If you do want to create art in a more structured (and clean!) environment, art classes are also offered at Splatter Lab for all ages. These classes are a terrific way to polish your skills and even learn a few new techniques.

We aren’t surprised as this trail is gorgeous regardless of the time of day, but during the golden hour, it really shines.

This trail takes you along the gorgeous Snake River Canyon and it is the perfect location for an evening stroll or a morning run. Don't be surprised when you see many people hiking, running, and cycling on your adventure.

You can start your hike anywhere along the path but we recommend you begin at the Twin Falls Visitor Center.

You can then continue walking toward the beautiful Perrine Bridge.

The Snake River Canyon Rim Trail will also take you past the striking Shoshone Falls. These falls are 212-feet tall and 900-feet wide, even taller than Niagara Falls!

Shoshone Falls isn’t the only waterfall you will see from this paved path. Keep your eyes open for some large cascades — they are stunning!
